This work, entitled ‘Pipe’, is Aldo’s porcelain re-imagination of the traditional carafe. The piece has been widely published and museum exhibited in Europe. Hand-crafted by Frans Ottink in Amsterdam, Pipe reflects the artist’s ongoing exploration of forms in movement or forms and movement.
Featured in a Looiersgracht 60 exhibition, a prominent design gallery in Amsterdam for a show titled "Containing Content" in 2015 where Bakker presented an exhibition of five jugs: Pivot, Pipe, Soy Pourer, Pot, and Square Pourer.
Dutch writer, Hans den Hartog Jager wrote the following in the artist's biography for the show, "Bakker rarely starts a design from the desire to solve a practical problem. In fact, though Baker may unmistakably be a designer, his interest in functionality only comes in at the latest stage."
The five jugs presented in the 2015 exhibition epitomize Bakker's inclinations of function following form.
