Paris-based designer Raphael Navot collaborates with the master weavers of Diurne for his limited edition rugs collection ‘LAND’, a series including six finely knotted, layered rugs or tapestries. The series is composed of hand-woven transcripts of bird’s-eye viewpoints of six different landscapes. Each woven piece shows a remarkably detailed translation of the landscape layers, color tonalities, and textures.
Raphael Navot has been collecting satellite images from all over the world as pictures or curiosities for many years. By selecting a scale, a view, or a moment in time, he highlights the singularity of a setting, a place, unique in its texture, its landscape, and its colors, which reflect its story and the stories of the people who have lived there. Each work is named after the place that inspired them.
