EWE Studio

Founded in 2017 by gallerist Age Salajõe and designers Manuel Bañó and Héctor Esrawe, Mexico City-based design studio EWE is dedicated to fostering, further developing, and honoring Mexico's ongoing artistic and craftsmanship legacy.

Working closely with master-artisans and local ateliers, the collaborative studio has built a comprehensive catalog of contemporary design work anchored in cultural heritage through their concept, materiality, and craftsmanship details. Drawing inspiration from Mexico’s ancestral artistry dating as far back as 3,000 years, EWE and its craftsmen team research, experiment, and develop time-honored techniques with innovative technology. Each series of lights and furniture unfolds a design and craft narrative that brings light to untold stories and expands upon the depth and breadth of the region’s artistic patrimony and artistry. The resulting pieces act as portals between the past and the present, the physical and the conceptual.
