Originally created by French designer Martin Szekely for the Editions Domeau & Pérès, the SATRAGNO table remains available on commission as part of the Philippe Peres Editions. The series exemplifies Szekely's renowned perfectionism and craftsmanship exigence. 

The striated cross-section of the table is achieved through the process of joining five thin planks of walnut. After being cut, the 10 mm thin planks are kept in a humid environment to maintain the stasis of the wood and minimize its future shrinkage or expansion. The five planks are selected based on the grain colors to achieve the contrasted layers of the table's edges. Once selected, the master woodcrafters sand the planks to a thickness of 7 mm and layer the planks. After adhering the planks together, the table is meticulously sanded to accentuate the grain inherent to the wood and finished the surface with a varnish solidifying and unifying the appearance of the five mounted planks.  Each leg is created using the same detailed process, bringing continuity throughout.

The design reflects Philippe Peres and the designer’s shared interest in pure lines that subtly reveal the artisanal dexterity and the essence of the material.
