YOUNG ELEPHANT TRUNK UP

Designer

Manufacture

Nymphenburg

Description

When August Göhring started out as a sculptor at Nymphenburg in 1914, he was mainly occupied with the reconstruction of historical figures. However, his precise, analytical perspective of man and animal soon saw him designing his own figures. Prominent examples, such as this 24-centimeter high elephant Edward with raised trunk, a design dating from 1936, are among the manufactory’s most successful models. Since 2002, it is also being produced in biscuit porcelain.
