Description
The Middle East has a long tradition of using glass vessels for tea; Lobmeyr produced numerous tea and punch mugs in the 19th century for that part of the world. Though long known for its ability to bear the mechanical strain, KIM+HEEP’s coffee cups show that Lobmeyr’s thin muslin glass is also resistant to changes in temperature. The design team developed an elegant and functional shape inspired by Lobmeyr’s iconic ‘Patrician’ set designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1917. Reminiscent of oriental coffee cups, Kim+Leep compliments its Lily cup set in 2013 with an Espresso cup adorned with a heavy gilt brass saucer.
