According to the legend, the Jattes Tétons were fashioned by casting the royal bosom of Marie-Antoinette. In 1787, Jean-Jacques Lagrenée le Jeune and Louis-Simon Boizot created the Bol Sein, also called Jatte tétons at the time, for the dairy of Rambouillet, a leisure farm offered by the King Louis XVI to Marie-Antoinette. There, the Queen and her close female friends came to relax and enjoy the bucolic atmosphere. The decoration of this dairy followed the theme of milk, evoking Etruscan shapes as well as neo-classic artwork. Sèvres’ porcelain objects sought new and ambitious shapes: Graeco-Roman inspired goat-head pots, Etruscan-handles vases, and cow-feet terrines.
