SMALL TEA CUP
Description
The Asahiyaki pieces are handcrafted using time-honored techniques that were passed on from a generation to the next within the Matsubayashi family since the 1600s. Now in their 16th generation of kiln-masters, the studio has been creating ceramic works for over 400 years. Throughout their long history, the studio has honored local resources, in particular, the clay from the Uji River and the tea crops of the area to capture the world’s attention and continue an enduring legacy of Japanese vernacular craftsmanship.
