Mario Milana

Mario Milana

Born in Milan in 1981, Mario Milana studied Industrial Design at the Instituto Europeo del Design di Milano, further shaping his eye at the studio of renown designer Karim Rashid in New York.

In 2014 Milana introduced his personal collection of furniture – hand-crafted in the Lombardy region of Italy – exploring craft, functionality, and simplicity, while merging yesteryear’s artistry with modern aesthetics.

In his own words: "My collection is a testament to the great respect I have for the work and life ethos of the master-craftsmen behind my pieces; I ask them to leave the weld-marks, as it is part of the story of the piece and how it was fabricated. The seats are upholstered with hand-stitched Italian leather by a small family-owned operation in Seregno that has been in business for generations. I truly believe that you can create innovative designs using traditional techniques of fabrication. I also believe that we must support and uphold these artisans and their traditions of savoir-faire.
