Created by Martino Gamper in 2016, NEO is an ensemble of 54 similar shaped tumblers each featuring a different contemporary ornament. A very simple double old-fashioned tumbler gets transformed in the hands of different experts/masters at the Lobmeyr workshop, showing a wide scope of the cold-workshop techniques and expertise – including hand-cutting, engraving, polishing, sand-blasting, hand-painting, gilding, and luster painting.
“I wanted to take on the challenge of creating a contemporary ornament using the traditional Lobmeyr-techniques.” – Martino Gamper
The project is part of the Vienna Design Week 2016 “Passionswege” project. The one-off prototypes are signed and sold as one complete collection of 53 glasses. All single items will be fabricated upon order.
