This elegant collection of tea strainers is hand-crafted at the workshop of Kanaami-Tsuji in Kyoto using time-honored and meticulous Kyo-Kanaami techniques (Metal knitting). The discipline is believed to be more than ten centuries old and was originally used for kitchen utensils essential to Kyoto cuisines, such as tofu servers and tea strainers.
Kanaami-Tsuji was established in 1985 by Master Craftsman, Kenichi Tsuji. Lead today by second-generation Toru Tsuji, the workshop offers an elegant, poetic, and modern collection of kitchen utensils and home accessories using the traditional technique of kiku-dashi (chrysanthemum pattern).
