Informed by the artist’s personal experience with sight, Void represents the Braille letter “k” in its use of the two stacked circles. Void evokes a stillness of mind and body inviting the idea of negative space, as reflected in the circular cut-out in the lower half. The rigid contours of the wood meet the curvature of the circles and soft tactile experience of the velvet to create a chair that combines to create a unique visual and tactile experience, consistent with Azadeh’s continual push of the bounds of visual and haptic consciousness.
